The Limbic Characteristic and El-Farol Games

چکیده
Human decision behaviour with there modelling has been an area of research for a number of years in many different disciplines. The idea of this paper is to model human characteristics in a computer based game environment (minority games). In order to prove our hypotheses of non rational behaviour decision in game theory, a simulation of the well known El-Farol game is introduced and analysed. The simulation results provided new and interesting results for our approach using the limbic characteristics for analysing the behaviour of players. The simulations proof that certain characteristic more successful than others.

The Power of Mediation in an Extended El Farol Game
A mediator implements a correlated equilibrium when it proposes a strategy to each player confidentially such that the mediator’s proposal is the best interest for every player to follow. In this paper, we present a mediator that implements the best correlated equilibrium for an extended El Farol game with symmetric players. The extended El Farol game we consider incorporates both negative and ...

We study the learning dynamics of agents who adapt to heterogeneous comfort levels in the context of an El-Farol type game, and show that even an infinitesimal degree of heterogeneity in the resource levels leads to a significant reduction of the fluctuations of the collective action, and removes the phase transition observed in models with homogeneous comfort level. Our analysis is based on dy...
متن کاملThe Value of Ignorance about the Number of Players
In the game known as the El-Farol bar, each player decides whether to come to the bar or stay at home (Arthur 1994). Normally, every player prefers to enjoy the party, however if the bar becomes congested beyond its capacity, the police closes the place, inflicting severe trauma on all party-goers. A variant of the problem (which is perhaps more realistic) is where the discomfort of the party-g...
متن کاملWhen the El Farol Bar Problem Is Not a Problem? The Role of Social Preferences and Social Networks
In this paper, we study the self-coordination problem as demonstrated by the well-known El Farol Bar problem (Arthur, 1994), which later becomes what is known as the Minority Game in the econophysics community. While the El Farol problem or the minority game has been studied for almost two decades, existing studies are most concerned with efficiency only. The equality issue, however, has been l...
